Cafe George in Amsterdam

I’ve been to all three Amsterdam locations of cafe George and still can’t figure out my favourite. I enjoy the interior design of all the locations, but the one on Princegracht seems to be the most cozy. I’m always a sucker for French brasserie meets New York kind of places, so you might understand my love for George. As for the food, it’s OK, nothing really special. Onion soup is mediocre, seemed like they added tomato paste inside, never really understood that. Club sandwich is good, but hey, it’s just a sandwich. Nicoise with fresh tuna is tasty and the portion is big. Vitello Tonnato was a huge disappointment – i always like bald seasoning and hate the lack of sauce, but my veal was drowning in super salty tuna sauce. A highlight of the dishes for me were Eggs Norwegian (benedict but with salmon).
Service in George depends on the time of the day. It’s really good and attentive in the morning and afternoon, closer to the evening waiters tend to be more forgetful and hard to spot.
Overall George is a nice place, i will come for more.
