Ron Gastrobar is a trending place by Ron Blaauw, a former 2 Michelin star chef, who opened his new place, based on a less formal bistro concept with fixed prices almost for all the dishes.
I loved our experience. I’m not a great eater, so i really enjoyed the small portions and a freedom to order as much as you want. One. Two. Three. Seven different plates if you’d like. Be aware though, the prices are not aggressive, but most of the savoury dishes go for 15 and desserts for 9, and some portions are not that big.
I had a Langoustine with leak and pumpkin and chorizo cream (there’s even a video of this dish here) and the Surprise Egg dessert. They both were really good, if i have to criticise then the Langoustine’s sauce was a touch salty and the Egg was a touch too sweet. BUT these are really not big flaws, i would say the structure of the langoustine dish, the flavour pallet were amazing.
My girlfriends ordered some other dishes and were also amazed with the flavour combinations and tastes. Among all the dishes i think Green Gazpacho was the most photogenic
If you want to experience Michelin star quality combined with unpretentiousness and flexibility of a gastropub, then Rob’s new place is just for you!
